When I did my Q&A with Nicole she mentioned how a glass of wine killed her desire for a nightly snack. I know many other women who have a glass of wine regularly, and lost their weight. I personally just drink socially, and usually not at home. But I love that I have the freedom to do that.
Does alcohol count on the Belly Fat Cure and a low sugar diet? Yes, it counts (everything counts). I leave room in my carbohydrate count S/C Value for that meal or day when I have it. I will forgo the pasta, starch at a meal and have a glass of white wine when we eat out sometimes. Every wine is a little different and if you consistently drink one brand it is worth looking up its exact nutritional data. But in general here is a guide for 5 oz of different wines:
My list can be downloaded or printed via Google Docs HERE. I'll continue to update it!
I'm a wine loving girl! Great post. Sending a virtual glass of wine to you and a hug of course!
ReplyDeleteCHEERS!
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite wine is a Moscato called Sara Bee that you get at Trader Joes...but, it has too much sugar. I am sure if I were to even try to drink it now, I would get an insta-headache!
I'm just a social drinker too but, I think I will have a glass tonight. Have a good weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteCool post, Amber! I love me my Chardonnay and my husband and I love to go wine tasting in Sonoma :) Where did you find this info? Just curious because when it gets hotter outside, I like Viognier and was curious how many carbs that had. I'm very surprised that Sav blanc has less carbs than Chardonnay.

Carey - I sourced it from all over the web, mostly calorieking and livestrong. I added Viognier to the list, looks like it is 2.4 grams so you are set! I used Sutter Home wines across the board for the comparison. If you like a very specific brand and have it often, it is best to find the S/C Value it, since they all vary!
DeleteWow! Thanks so much! I'll have to check out calorieking. I got my original values from livestrong but that was a while back. Today would be a great Viognier day since it was 100 degrees when I met Rosalie today for lunch!

Thanks for the post, Amber! I LOVE wine. Is it safe to assume that there is no sugar in these counts? I would think that the moscato wine would surely have some sugar but you didn't list any and I don't want to assume :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great comparison table Amber, thanks for doing the legwork for the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteLove my Chardonnay !

Amber, I swear you read my mind. I am a Napa Valley girl, rather, old woman, so I love my wine. Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I am under the impression that most of the wines have no residual sugar in them, like the chardonnay and cab sauv, but that the ice wines/dessert wines do have sugar in them. I will update you with more info as I get it. I'd recommend that most likely anything with a carb count over 5 (just pulling a number) has a few grams of sugar. I usually keep my counts of my other foods low just to be on the safe side if I am going to have a white zin or anything that tastes sweet at all.
ReplyDeleteAmber, thank you for this!! Very timely. I had a few glasses of merlot last night and was wondering what the carb/sugar count was!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information.. I was surprised to know that the moscato has 11 g of carbs.. wow.. I love wine, my favorites are the merlot & shiraz.. My best friend loves the moscato.. thank God I'm not.. I will be emailing her shortly to let her know. : )
ReplyDeleteThis is really useful! Thanks Amber!!
