On another note, I made a fun discovery on... you guessed it... Pinterest! I'm obsessed, I know. Did you know that most Mason jars (or just plain left over glass jars) fit your blender? They turn any blender into a Bullet Blender. I have started Month 3 of the Fast Track, where I have removed all grain and legumes from my diet. I've never gone this long on the Fast Track and I am finding my hunger level has greatly decreased recently. Oh, and I got back to my goal weight of 143 last week! Yea! I thought I would go back to the regular Belly Fat Cure then and add back limited grains, but I didn't feel the need to... strangely. So here I am, grain free, at my goal weight and feeling really good (aside from an annoying cold/allergy). So I decided to take my cool Pinterest Blender trick and my use it with Jorge's Bug Juice. I'm skipping a meal here and there when I truly do not feel hungry, but I love the idea of getting my veggies in. Although tonight my youngest son said "Why do you make that when it tastes awful?" What? Did I say that? I must have, because kids just repeat what they hear. It doesn't taste awful, but it doesn't taste like birthday cake either. But I won't be eating any birthday cake, so cheers to Bug Juice.
My current recipe for Bug Juice (it has evolved with time):
- Handful of blueberries
- Large handful of fresh spinach
- 1 Celery stalk, cut in half to fit in the jar
- 1/4 Cucumber (if you have it, I have not lately)
- 1/2 Tbsp chia seeds
If you are new to this drink, you may hate it honestly. But I like it and had it quite often my first 6 months on the BFC. I am trying to have it more often again and repeat the foods that I think helped me be most successful. I swear I get a booth of energy from this drink when I have it in the afternoon, and just plain makes me feel good. Happy Weekend!
That's great that you are back at you goal weight. I love eating wheat free also, but there are days like this morning when I just wanted a tortilla.
ReplyDeleteI have never tasted that bug juice, I guess its cause I eat tons of veggies already.
Have a great weekend. :-)
I do a similar drink that I call "pond scum". LOL. It calls for 1 head of romaine lettuce, a bunch of spinach, 2 stalks of celery, a bunch of parsley, a mini bunch of cilantro, 1 cup water or more to desired consistency, the juice from one fresh squeezed lemon and I add stevia and 1 T of Barleans strawberry banana omega swirl.....blend and eat 1 to 2 cups a day. Like your bug juice....it might taste yucky to some people but I have grown to like it. I also add psyllium husks (or chia seeds) to get a fiber boost but I add those to what I am drinking right then, not to the whole batch.
ReplyDeleteI am going to read wheat belly asap. :)
So proud of you Amber!!! I haven't made bug juice in a while. I bet it's good with blueberries in it. I need to put the ingredients on my list and try your jar thingie. :)
ReplyDeleteNo bug juice for me! Great job on being at your goal weight! You seem happy and that's awesome. Did you have pictures of you in your pretty dress yet?
ReplyDeleteParty is tonight!
ReplyDeleteRandi - Pond scum is exactly right, but I think only us country girls would get that! The lemon would be a good addiction. The blueberries keep me from needing stevia now.
I saw that tip on Pinterest-that is so cool that it works! I'm going to try it-and the bug juice.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your party.
Hi Amber I was just having a gluten free talk with my mom this weekend. She couldn't believe wheat or gluten was a bad thing since we're omnivores and can eat it. My argument was just cause we can doesn't mean we should or that it's good for us. Wheat Belly sounds like an awesome read. Can't wait to hear your review. Maybe I'll do one as well :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, you've motivated me to drink more green smoothies. You're hardcore, I have to add more fruit! Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteI only found your blog about 2 months ago but we do have alot in common. I don't do the belly fat diet but I am allergic to wheat! I just read about your addiction to wheat and I so relate. I suffered all kinds of medical problems because of this allergy. I've been wheat free for 6 years now and it's amazing how my life/health has changed for the better. I'm on the wait list for wheat belly book. Can't wait to read it.

Im with Kay...no bug juice for me either so I wont be at your cocktail party if you are serving that. hahaha! I applaud you for getting it down. I was taking this supplement that was equivalent to 8 servings of fruits & veggies...it was really gross & I gagged it down. Ok, I will stop my rant now. lol. You always have great wisdom to share. Thank you! BTW, congrats on your pic being in Jorges book. Thats just awesome! You are looking super skinny in the pic. So much to be proud of!
ReplyDeleteAmber, I saw that trick on Pinterest. Isn't that amazing? I'm still getting over that the foil box has two little cardboard tabs on the side, that you punch in and it holds the foil roll in place. After all these years, I just found this out, but it is life changing! Now this tip with the mason jars??? Stop, my life can't take any more excitment!! LOL!!! I may give this one a try though...the bug juice that is! Hugs from me to you!
ReplyDeleteHA! I would not serve Bug Juice to friends! But I did have it before we headed out for our party. Its a good pick me up and I have a few servings of veggies, so its all good :)
ReplyDeleteI just ordered Wheat Belly and hoping to get some more insight to this method. I've been on fast track for about 3 weeks. I haven't noticed a significant weight loss, but I'm not hungry at all. It seems that eliminating grains = eliminating hunger pangs. I was disappointed to hear that wheat my be in my coffee...Noooooo! How can I be a normal human being without coffee??
ReplyDeleteLa Gal - I was shocked to to see that flavored coffees and teas may have gluten! Why?! Argh!
