Sugar: The Bitter Truth

I am on vacation this week visiting family in Oklahoma. I wanted to re-share this video from Dr. Robert Lustig called Sugar: The Bitter Truth. Jorge Cruise introduced me to this video in my Belly Fat Cure class back in 2009 and it really opened my mind. It is 90 minutes long, but there are so many great revelations in here that is worth a listen.

My weight is doing great and holding steady, even down a little bit right now. I do not go off the diet on vacation or have desserts that are not on the plan. The first day there I'm going to head out and pick up heavy cream for my coffee and 85% dark chocolate for the evenings when others are having dessert.


  1. Amber, do my carbs all have to be whole grain? I always stay under 120 a day and always less than 40 a meal, but sometimes when I'm on the run a fast food sandwich is what I get, is that ok to have white bun? Thanks for the help and I agree, love coffee and heavy cream :-)

  2. That grocery list sounds suspiciously like mine when I go on vacation - although I also pick up something with lottsa fiber in it too or I obsess over how much fiber I'm not eating all vacation.

    I will try to watch the video, but I don't have 90 minutes so I'll have to try to increment it. :)

  3. Dawn I obsess over fiber too on vacation. I always get constipated (I know, TMI!) on vacay so I try to start the day right.

    p.s. I was living in another state for 5 weeks helping my parent's clear out my grandfather's estate. It was hard at times to live the BFC way. A lot of eating out (midwest type restaurants)and some products were not available locally. Thank goodness they had a Trader Joe's so I could get some things I was used to eating. I totally understand how hard vacation can be. Having a plan of attack is, indeed, the best first step. Have a great time!

  6. Thanks for sharing this video! Our doctor actually suggested my husband watch this video and read the BFC before starting to diet. After half of the video we paused it, turned to each other and said, "Oh. My. Gosh!" This video flipped the switch for us. We were converted.

    Then the BFC showed us how to live our new convictions.
