I have decided to post photos again at 20wks, I'll be curious to see any difference. Sister M asked if I felt skinny yet, and the answer is a resounding "No!" Of course I feel different. I feel comfortable in my skin for the first time in a long time. Everything in my closet fits or is too large. I've gone from a tight size 14 (refused to buy 16s, but XL was okay somehow) to a comfortable 10. I think when I shop next, Mediums will fit me better then Large. When I see my face in the mirror or a photo, I recognize it. I look more like "me" again. I have no recollection of the last time I was in the 150s, 13 yrs ago maybe? But do I feel skinny? No.
Depending on how much weight you have to lose, my 159.5 pounds sounds obese (which officially I'm just overweight now according to my Wii Fit) or tiny. It's all relative. According to the medical weight charts a 5'4" Women should weigh between 114 - 151 pounds depending on her frame size. I emailed Jorge a while back and asked what my ideal weight should be. He answered that I should concentrate on being healthy and not a number on the scale and being super skinny. A little ironic coming from the guy who's book makes big weight loss claims I thought, but still a good answer.
For those of you with the bigger numbers to lose, I want to make sure you don't see me as bragging. I know your struggle is different from mine and some days it seems like an impossible task. I only tell you these details to encourage you and know IT IS possible. Make a decision, inform yourself with the details of the plan and start taking steps to use it in your life. If we don't believe in ourselves, then nobody else will either. It shows on our faces and in how we take care of our bodies. Yes, it will not be easy at first to make big changes to your eating habits. But you CAN do it! And it will become easy in time. Because I did it, somehow. So I KNOW that you can too. (*group hug*)

ReplyDeleteDitto....CONGRATS!!! You inspire so many of us!! Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Amber! I was wondering when people plateau on this eating plan--apparently you haven't yet! And a size 14 to a 10 is awesome!

Awesome news! Excellent work and dedication :-)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Amber! As a former sneak candy eater and Coke Zero junkie, you are my inspiration. I started out at 213, but was as high as 224 at one point. I am now at 204. I too, am 5'4" and have a goal weight of 140. I know it's possible with this lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us up to date on your progress.
Kim
Great job! I hope to be at the same point after 18 weeks! You are an inspiration!

Awesome Amber! Can't wait till I can be where you are with your success. Still holding, but not giving up. I tell my family there must be a reason why I want to stay with this. It just seems right!
ReplyDeleteAmber, not to sound super cheesy but thanks for this blog. I was sooo close to giving up last week and had it not been for reading your blog and heading over to Twitter I might have bailed ship. Back on track, doing awesome though I haven't gotten on the scale, those loose pants sure do feel great don't they! And my energy levels have skyrocketed since Monday. I beat my hubby to the coffee maker now, that's NEVER happened before!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Congrats Amber! I love a good success story! I am excited to get started on the 6 week program starting MONDAY (guess I need to get my blog together stat!) Menu plans come tomorrow morning and I am going grocery shopping with mom, as we're going to try out the plan together! It's always easier with a partner in crime! Anyway, I wanted to drop everyone a quick note that if anyone is interested in the Joseph's Sugar Free cookies, I found them at my local Dollar Tree last week! They had about 4 different flavors. Thought this was a real find as some of these products can be quite pricey! Just thought I would share! Congrats again Amber and thanks as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lexi! My fav Joseph's cookie is the chocolate chip, its almost TOO good. Ive heard others say they found them at $1 stores too. They are $6 at my grocery and all they have is the lemon ones.
ReplyDeleteWow...thanks for posting your blog. First of all...all the best as you continue on your journey! I'm bookmarking your blog as it's just what I need to keep me motivated!
ReplyDeleteI'm an American living in Canada so it's a bit of a search sometimes to find products, but we do make trips down to the states to see family. Canada does not have near the products that the US does which can make it a bit of a struggle. However, with your listing of foods etc. I can make my list of things I want to get and order them ahead of time to be delivered to my family in addition to doing a search of my various Organic and health food stores up here for these items. THANKS AGAIN!!
Lynnette-try the low carb grocery . www.the lowcarbgrocery.com. These are Canadian stores-I am not sure where you are in Canada-I know there is one in Markham, Ont-that is where my order came from. They have alot of products that I too couldn't find elsewhere. Check it out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
