Thanks for all your sweet comments! I am feeling so much better today and really only feeling the side effects of anesthesia - which is awful. I feel queasy, my face is extremely puffy and I'm constipated. Fun! I also have a really sore throat from that tube that stick down it. That is almost the worst part. I really wish now that I had had this procedure years ago when I first scheduled it. So hopefully I learned a lesson about procrastination and fear from all this.
I won't know for a few months if it really fixed my problems. I'd be happy to just bleed once a month (currently I bleed during ovulation and during my period) and just have a "normal" period. I suffer from menorrhagia (excessive bleeding, clotting and lower back pain) during my actual period. There are a bunch of hormonal symptoms that go along with this that I really want (fingers crossed) to go away too. I haven't ever written much about it hear because it feels like TMI and is embarrassing. But when I do talk about I'm surprised at how many women also suffer from this. The women in my family typically have early hysterectomies to solve it all, but I'm excited that the comparatively simple endometrial ablation might solve it! Yea for modern science!
Feel better :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a good recovery :)
ReplyDeleteI just know you are going to feel so much better! It's funny the things that we think are TMI are actually being suffered by other's that would love someone to talk to about. Women;)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that things went well and you are on the mend. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteGlad it went well and again, speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home, and hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteWishin you a speedy recovery. Sending hugs and love!
ReplyDeletehad this done 4 months ago, best thing I've ever done! don't even have to take advil anymore.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been on here in a few weeks - missed your earlier post about your procedure. I've been there and done that and I'm so happy I did it. I know you are feeling the effects of the surgury right now but it will soon be better.
ReplyDeleteMy surgery was in June 2007. The difference is amazing! I used to have almost 2 weeks of spotting and heavy bleeding. Now it's so miniscule I still think "is that is?"
Another great benefit at first is I had very little PMS. Unfortunately, that didn't last long enough for me:) but since I'm in my late 40's there is the hormonal changes too.
I hope your experience will be just as good - and yes I wish I had done it earlier too.
Feel better:D
Quick recovery Amber! I hope the outcome is what you wish for (I have a friend with similar problems and it's not a nice way to live).
ReplyDeleteGlad you're doing well, keep pressing forward & stay positive.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your honesty and sharing this with us, it is surprising how many women suffer with these kind of issues and feel so alone. Being informed gives us power to fix the problem. : )
Stay strong.
It is so surprising how many others suffer from this! Thanks so much for your kind words :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are recovering. I had this procedure without anesthesia. Oh they drugged me up to the point I didn't care, and then numbed up my cervix and uterus. I was taking my daughter to a basketball game the next day. Not that I wanted to, but there was no one else available to take her. It's time to pamper yourself.
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and I am so impressed with your journey! I tracked to you on my blog today. Sorry to hear about your period troubles. My mom had difficulty too. Glad your doing better!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a speedy recovery, and lasting results. I have fibroids, so I know a little of what you've been going through. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and hoping that you're feeling better soon - Fingers crossed that this takes care of the issue. (I agree, the soreness caused by the breathing tube is the worse)!!
ReplyDeleteHi Amber, I'm 41 and have had the same problem for a while now too. so bad I became severely anemic more than once and needed to get a pint of blood at the hospital. Going on the low carb diet and losing belly fat seems to have improved it quite a lot for me. I really notice a difference! I'm bummed that it didn't seem to do much for you especially with all that great exercising you do! shoot! well, here's hoping the ablation solves it. Get well soon girl!
