The End of Mom Jeans

I've cried in the dressing room many times. Every time I go shopping now I'm a little fearful I won't be able to pull the clothing over my hips. As I've mentioned before I have had to re-buy pretty much an entire wardrobe after losing 53 lbs, so that means a lot of shopping. I realize now I need to take my time to replace everything! When cooler weather finally hit Northern California and I broke out my new Fall wardrobe. I am thrilled with all the orange, brown and purple colors. Black was my favorite clothing color before, but I realize I need to change it up a little. The funny thing with aquiring all my clothing within a year, I'm pretty sure it will all be very dated. The colors and styles will all be stamped "2011". Wrap sweaters and boots are so comfy and fun this season!

My biggest purchase has been a nice pair of jeans. For the last many years I tended to buy cheap clothing. But I'd have to buy several things to find something that looked good and fit correctly. As soon as the Size 8 "fancy jeans" fit me, I got them. When I told my Husband how much they cost he was SHOCKED! He said "You know it costs $5 to make those?!" At the same time I went to the Gap and bought two pairs of jeans I kind of liked. Together they cost as much as the "fancy jeans" so I returned them and got the ones I really wanted.  No more Mom Jeans for me!

I ended up with AG (Adriano Goldschmied) Stevie jeans. The material is so nice, not like any jeans I've ever worn. They are a little stretchy, but not too much and don't lose their shape throughout the day. They come in different "ages", so you can buy the same jeans that look new, 4 years old, 7 years old, even 28 years old. Kind of cool! I see these jeans as an investment and I really love them! I spent too much on them, but look at it as an investment in me.
From size 14/16 to size 8
What are you waiting to buy at your goal weight?!

  1. My goal jeans, when I get to 130, are some Hudson boot cut jeans. They have a fun pocket on the butt that I hope will make me look like I have one! They are like 189.00 so I have to have a big goal!
You look amazing, happy and fit! Jeans are an investment since we wear them every day:)I also love the Mom's jean commercial!
I still wear a lot of black, I try to find other colors, but I have always worn black! I will branch out in the Spring.
    You are a great inspiration!

  6. You look great! My challenge with finding designer jeans is finding jeans that are long enough and not toooo skinny in the legs. I have long legs, and designers seem to assume the longer the legs, the skinnier the jeans need to be. I don't like my jeans skin tight; fitted, yes, but not skin tight.

  7. You really do look great! If I could drop 20 pounds, I'd buy myself some fancy "non mom" jeans.

  8. I LOVE those jeans! The funny thing is that I bought my $170 Joe's jeans and found that my JLO jeans from Kohls are so much more comfortableand just as cute! LOL! BTW, when I bought my newest pair of Joe's(had to replace last years holey version), I had a coupon from Macy's and they let me use it on the jeans! Yay for coupons! I say spend as much money as you need to if the jeans make you look good! Don't spend your mortgage, but you know what I mean! It's priceless when you feel good about yourself! I find that jeans shopping is almost as traumatic as bathing suit shopping but maybe that's becuase I'm short and have a hard time with the length! :)

  9. Every time my jeans get lose, I donate them and get the next size down. I'm glad you got your fancy jeans. I'd so rather have one pair I love than 2 that I sort of like. Good for you!

  10. Haha MomJeans! I still remember my hi-rise peg legged 30" inseam medium wash bubble butt jeans that I thought were the bomb. Never again! I consider being able to wear cute jeans the ultimate badge of diet success--far more so than the ubiquitous bikini. Thanks for that clip! That is hilarious. (I wonder how Penney's feels about it.....:)

  11. That video is hilarious! That's a great picture because you are standing almost the exact same way and it's such a shocking difference! Love the jeans on you. I'm more of a "cheap" jean buyer myself 'cause there are so many other things I want to spend my money on. Can't deny that they look fabulous though.

  12. I love that video and am glad you all enjoyed it too! The nice jeans really turned out to be worth it! I don't regret them at all! Way better than a closet full of Old Navy and Target jeans. But Ill have to check out the JLo jeans at Kohls that Carey mentioned too!

  13. Hi Amber, you an inspiration for me! A smaller jean size does inspire me. I have been following Jorge diet for over a year, & have lost 40lbs & went from size 18 to a 12. My question for you is I just had my gallbladder removed & I am suppose to stay on low fat diet, any suggestion on how I can still follow Jorge ? Thanks Mary
