October Fast Track Challenge: Week 1

Have you checked out the preview on Amazon?
Today is my weigh in day for the October Fast Track Challenge and I am thrilled to say I am down 3.5 lbs! w00t! That leaves me 7 lbs to get back to my lowest weight of 143. I almost instantly noticed I look and feel less puffy and my clothing fits better. I am sleeping better and overall happy to be on a diet (crazy, right?). If you aren't feeling the same way, I suggest you aren't doing the Fast Track correctly and are possibly depriving yourself too much. Eat those Skinny Fats, make sure you have plenty of protein and have something green with every meal. This is my 3rd time on Belly Fat Cure FT, so I've learned a lot from my other experiences. (The first time I was miserable the first few weeks)

I weighed myself pretty much everyday (awful habit I know) but it was interesting after not weighing for months. I actually had to blow dust bunnies off my scales! Actual. dust. bunnies. One day I noticed my weight was up, when my eating the day before had been noticeably light and that was perplexing. But I've come to learn that my weight on the scale in the morning is not a direct reflection of the day before's eating habits. It has more to do with my eating several days before. But I have completely* avoided grains and legumes this week and gotten really creative with my meals. You really have to plan ahead and have the right attitude on this. I am aiming for 1 lb  loss this week, and am setting my expectations there.

Side note: I did not exercise a lick last week, other than my normal stroll back and forth to the kids school to take, pick up, volunteer.

* There was an incident at the mall (my boys go to the monthly Lego Free Build, first Tues of each month) where we waited in line for 90 minutes at dinner time. My boys had "mall dinner" which was a Pepperoni Pretzel from Wetzel's. I did not plan well for myself or for the delicious smell of Pepperoni Pretzels, and I ate some (but not all) of their's. Bad Mommy.

  1. Good job. I would not suggest any exercising for someone doing this beyond a good long walk or some heavy resistance training with plenty of rest. Any kind of intense cardio training with what is likely to be less carbs than most people are used to eating is going to spike cortisol to levels that will actually inhibit weight loss. Cardio on 50-100 g of carbs is generally not going to work out very well. Once is okay, but if you try to make a regular thing of it you will stymie your fat loss. Just remember that it's hormones that make you (and keep you) fat, not calories. BFC/FT works b/c of how it manipulates hormones.

  2. Great job Amber! I haven't done the FT, but I'm always working on the BFC. Today I was down 1 lb., but more importantly my clothes felt loose! Yahoo! That is such a great feeling. Also, I saw your mention of the primal blue print and started doing a little research. It all makes so much sense. I think I can definitely work towards that life style. Thanks for all your info!

  3. Thanks Mike, always good advice! I tried a 4 miler today and kicked my butt. My friends were worried something was wrong, but Im sure it was diet related... if not just pure laziness.

  4. Hi Amber! Great job on FT this week! I just finished FT and lost 6 lbs. I just received the BFC book and am poring over it to get started on adding in some carbs. I have a ? I hope you can answer for me. On the Carb Swap recipe pages, are the S/C Values shown for ALL of the foods in the picture, or for only the main meal (no sides)? For example, pg 59- Super Cheesy Ham Omelette- it says S/C of 3/2, but I also see some bacon in the pic, some hash browns, and an eng. muffin w/butter. Are the sides included in the S/C Value? I looked around for whether the sides were included in the count, but was unable to find an answer. And who better to turn to than you!! Thanks in advance if you can help me out.

  5. Awesome! 3.5 pounds is awesome. I actually gained a pound for my weigh in today. I'm O.K. with it, after my weight loss last week. I know I'll have a loss next week. I'm exhausted after working at the hardware store today. My heart goes out to all the working moms!

  6. ScrappyWyf - Yours is a VERY common question & thks for providing the pg number. I looked it up and yes that is the S/C for the whole meal.

  7. Great job Amber! Unfortunate about the pepperoni pretzel, but we all have slip ups. My weight isn't always dependent on the day before, either.

  8. Yeah Amber!! 3.5 pounds is so awesome! How do you lose it so fast?! I think you've got this FT down! Keep up the good work!

  9. Beth, I didnt do anything special. Except for the "mall dinner" incident I didnt touch a grain or legume for a week. Id like to say I was shocked, but I expected this. FT works really well for me when I stick to it. I really wanted a Zevia one evening and I almost had it. But then I was like, its not worth it. A pot of hot tea saves me most nights!

  11. Amber congrats on the weight loss. I had the same problem with my scale and that was when I wasnt doing the BFC 100% now that I am doing the FT I want to weight, but my husband hid the scale from me. He said I dont need to weigh every day. He knows how discouraged I can get if the numbers dont go down. Those pretzels are hard to pass up sometimes huh? but hey you did not eat the whole thing.

  12. You are doing great! I'm pretty sure I am going to have to do a FT to kick my butt back in gear after vacation. I watched hubby eat a molten lava cake with ice cream and strawberry sauce....no desire past a teeny taste. I love the BFC:)

  13. Hi A,
Thank you for having a receipe tab on your blog. It makes is much easier to scroll for a meal.

  14. I was just wondering why zevia is not allowed on FT. Is it because of the carbs?

  15. Anonymous - The FT really keeps it simple and Jorge specifically didnt want any "specialty products". The drinks are limited to water, coffee, tea & a little wine/alcohol. Zevia is listed on the back of the book, but in the trial I went thru it was not allowed. It could be a special treat or splurge though. The carbs and sugar alcohol is what could prevent optimal weight loss.
