Fast Track Food List

Confused about the differences between the Belly Fat Cure and Fast Track? Basically the Fast Track is the BFC without grains. No pasta, rice, bread, etc. But there is more to it than that. It's about Skinny Fats and getting your fiber from Super Carbs. It's about controlling your insulin and leptin levels. We like specifics though, so I've put together a food list with the differences in the two plans. The list comes from reading the book and participating in the original FT group over a year ago.

This list is a work in progress. Please leave a comment and let me know if there is a food I missed or miscategorized. I am super charged with writing about the Fast Track. I have several new recipes (Fast Track Coconut Pumpkin Muffins!), meals (photos galore) and recipes from the book that my readers and I have made all coming up! 1. Potatoes? Peanuts should also be included in the legumes list. :)

  2. I'm not sure what it says in the book but I would limit nuts to "condiment" usage, i.e. sprinkling on a salad for two reasons: 1) people tend to think "oh, I can have nuts" and consume way too many calories b/c nuts are one of the few quick and easy things on the FT and 2) nuts are very high in omega 6 fats and can contribute to systemic inflamation if you aren't eating enough fish or fish oil.

  4. Surprised at the limit on the sweetenets like stevia and the sugar alcohols. I thought those were fair game! Thanks for the list!

  5. Hi Amber,

Where does he mention the limits on Stevia/sugar alcohols? I don't remember seeing this in the book.

    Thanks,
    Kim

  6. I am not surprised by the lack of sugar alcohols, Im actually surprised they are allowed AT ALL. They can inhibit weight loss.

Kim - This is from the initial FT Borders groups and the FT Class I participated in. It was spelled out in our materials and repeated very specifically. The book is vague on that, but the women you see on video with the big losses, that is what they followed. How many are you having?

  7. Hmmmm, I wonder why he doesn't specifically say that in the book. Today I had about 5g of carbs from Stevia. The hard thing is when I started on Saturday I was using Sweetleaf Stevia tabs and it says they have zero carbs. But since I add one to each cup of tea I drink that could be up to 6 tabs. I am sure it adds up. So far, my average is 46g of total carbs a day. I know we don't have to keep track, but I have just to see what trends I may see. Can't help it, I'm a Virgo. :)

p.s. On your chart you say limit 2. Is that two Stevia packets or 2 grams of carbs from Stevia?

  8. Kim - It was 2 packets of a stevia sweetener. The plan did change a little between the focus group & the book (fiber supplements were a COMPLETE no-no then). You know how it says "Limit 2" on the tea & coffee, Im pretty sure that used to say the Limit of 2 was for the sweeteners. Many in the group struggled with that, since on the BFC they had used multiple packets in each drink they had throughout the day. Ask him on FB and twitter, he may answer! BUT all that said, if you are losing good with what you are eating, dont sweat it. If not, that is a good place to cut back first!

  9. Thanks Amber. I will reduce my Stevia consumption to 2 packets per day and see how it goes. So far, no dramatic weight loss (only a lb so far) but I have been taking probiotics for years so maybe I don't have a build-up of "stuff". I appreciate your feedback.

  10. Hi A,
Great resource! I didn't see Unsweetened Almond Milk make the list yet on either BFC or FT (yes or no).

    peace,

  11. yes, I'd like to hear about Almond Milk and cashew butter. I didn't know that about Truvia inhibiting weight loss, I wonder why? Do you know why?

  12. The unsweetened milks should be on here, Ill add them thanks! Its the sugar alcohols that inhibit weight loss for many people. Truvia has xylitol but tiny amounts. I think it is more with Truvia that some put many packets in each drink and the carbs do add up. That is why they are limited - IMHO.

  13. can you post what fruits are allowed and how much please? I cant buy the book right now :/

  14. I bought the book and it gives some fruits and their sugar calories. I am wondering about grapes which are not listed. Also, how many nuts are considered a serving. Is there a website where these types of things are listed?
