Me and Jorge and Rachael Ray

About a year ago, I had just started the Belly Fat Cure and it was all beginning to click for me. I couldn't sleep one night, I was literally so excited about this plan, and I thought "I'm going to be the best client Jorge Cruise has ever had!" (I even punctuated it with a geeky fist pump in the air). Then I realized how silly it is, since there are so many people with more to lose, that my little goal is nothing. And then a little voice said "Well then I'll be the best client he has ever had that lost 50 pounds".  I think I put something out in the Universe that night which came into fruition this week...

A week ago I was flown to New York City for two days by the Rachael Ray Show to appear with Jorge on an upcoming episode (It's TODAY, Monday Jan. 31, 2011). I only told a few friends and my family about this before hand. I was very nervous and I needed to process it all. I wasn't quite ready to share it with the world yet. I kept thinking something would fall through and they'd call and say "Psych!".

Once I was at the studio the team made me feel so special and at ease. It really, as you can imagine, was a surreal experience. I expected to be in a waiting room, much like the dentist office, but instead they had a Green Room just for me with my name on the door! I mean, come on! They brought me a fruit tray, that I quickly ate all the berries off of and a tub of drinks. The room had a live feed of the studio where they were filming. I had full hair and makeup done (which you can clearly see which photos were taken before/after!) and Jorge was down the hall.  The producers and everyone on the show was so incredibly nice, helpful and just plain wonderful. They couldn't have treated me better if I was Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (After Richard Gere takes her shopping and minus all the hooker stuff)

Jorge really hit it off with Rachael and the segment was really good I thought. He helps another dieter who has reached a plateau by going through her grocery cart. It was a cute idea! I am in the audience and they show a few before photos of me. Rachael asks me a couple of questions and I tell a little of my story. I was a nervous wreck before hand, but I feel really good about how it all worked out. I put my best face forward (or a borrowed face for the day) and said what I wanted to say.

Then I was literally whisked away to a waiting car and rushed to the airport. I was probably sitting on my plane exactly an hour after being in the studio!

  2. Congrats AMBER, when I read what you were off to do I took a hint that is was another match up with Jorge and something special and here you were on TV!! You deserve it as you worked your rear off and also helped me and many others along the way!! Keep doing what you are doing. I am sure a book deal is in the works if not now soon (smile). I also have mentioned in your personal emails, you need to put a receipe book by Amber together for us to follow along.

I myself, have lost 38 pounds since 3/22/10 and I am doing great on managing the weight. I look forward to the FT book.

    Peace,
    Esther

  7. Amber, I am so excited for you, and you looked so great in the photo. I have one question though. Do you think it's confusing between the fast track plan that some of us are following now and the original BFC? I feel like publicly Jorge is promoting one, and then for those on his select email list who are following fast track he is saying don't count, eat some fruit, no carbs. Totally different styles. Just wanted to know your thoughts and also what will be your plan going forward, bfc or fast track?

  12. Did you get a chance to chat w/ Jorge while you were there, or was it all so crazy?? I thought it was a fantastic segment. I encouraged many of my WW friends to watch it...especially the one who just told me she downed a 2 points plus yogurt that day with 19g of sugar!!

  13. BFCFT here Amber, just wanted to say: GREAT job!!! Loved seeing you, and you're right: Jorge & Rachel seemed to talk so freely and well together. She seemed very into the BFC way of eating. What an awesome experience! Who knew a year ago you'd be doing this? Seems like deep, deep down: YOU DID!!! Congrats and see you on the FT boards. :-)

  16. Hi Amber! My name is Grace..I need your help/opinion/motivation! First of all, CONGRATUALATIONS on your amazing weight loss.I'm almost 18 years old,Since the beginning of June 2010 I've lost 35 pounds..by basic diet and exercise- changing my whole life! I feel great but I feel like i have hit a plateau. I eat really healthy but I do eat alot of sugary fruit. I also am in the gym 5-6 times a week, and I have a personal training session once a week to keep me accountable. So yesterday I picked up a book we've had at our house for a while now..it's the Belly Fat Cure book. I actually took the time to read it and it sounds legitimate..and then I found your blog and it totally makes me want to do it! I need your reassurance that cutting my sugar untake and tracking my carbs will help me!

  17. Grace - Congrats on the 35 lbs you have lost so far AND for being smart enough to get it off at a young age. You might watch my video with Jessica who is about your age and had great success on both BFC and a grain-free version of the plan here: http://www.meandjorge.com/2010/06/reader-profile-yates-family.html

Cutting you sugar will definitely make the difference. Jorge doesnt talk about it too much, but I think limiting each meal to an S/C of 5/2 along with a daily max of 15/6 is extremely important. Once you get the right products down it is easy. This bread, instead of that. This cereal instead of that one. And lots of green veggies and protein.

Please keep me posted on your progress!

  18. Thank you so much! My mom and I are bringing the book grocery shopping with us this weekend and i'm starting on Monday. I also went out and bought a cork board to put goals and what not on there so I can see it in my room every day. I'm really excited about this.
I will definitely keep you posted, And keep up your great work, you have inspired so many people already by sharing your experience on this blog!
