Weigh In: Week 39 on the Belly Fat Cure Fast Track

This week has been really fun and totally out of the ordinary for me! First, let's start with my weight: I am down 3 lbs in the last two weeks for a total of 5 lbs lost in July on our BFC Challenge. And while I pick my chin up off the floor I'll tell you I am surprised by my loss this month. Making simple changes while sticking a good plan really does work! That puts me at 143 lbs with a total of 53 lbs lost. I am 1 single pound from my goal weight! I promise, you and myself, no new goals. This is it!

Monday Jorge invited me down to San Diego for a BFC whirlwind day. I was able to spend the day with two people I have featured here on the blog, Jessica and Anthony. I had never met Anthony in person, and I was really looking forward to it. I have made a great friend in him. Jessica has lost 63 lbs and has just graduated from high school and Anthony has lost 210 lbs. Yes, that is what he LOST. Both are so inspiring and if you have a young person in your life who is looking lose weight, their stories are great. So two very motivating people to spend the day with, right?

I had my hair and makeup done and professional photos taken for the Belly Fat Cure Fast Track book that comes out at the end of the year. Jorge is putting the three of us on the back cover of the book, which is a really neat opportunity. It was fun having people ooh and aah over me for a few hours, I won't lie. But I really loved spending time with Jessica, Anthony, Oliver and Robbie (who work for Jorge). Being surrounded by people with the same goals and interests is so easy.

When my family picked me up at the airport I still had all the makeup on and the kids and Husband declared they didn't recognize me. I now know, pancake really settles in your wrinkles and lines! The kids and I head out for a long vacation this week to spend time with my family in Oklahoma. They are going to fish, swim and play with cousins, which they don't get to do very often. I'm going to sit in the shade, read, and enjoy some free Grandparent provided babysitting.

How are you all doing on the July Challenge? I hope you have been able to stick with the plan and not give into cravings. I am a little worried I won't have my normal foods around and we will camping in the Ozarks (=middle of nowhere) so I hope I do okay.

  1. So glad that you had a great time here and wished it was a longer trip so we could have seen you! Jessica was part of our FT group so I understand when you say that she is inspirational and a wonderful person. She has a wonderful family as well! Congrats on your loss...I'm truly green! LOL Although I'm staying on track, still no loss. I haven't gotten on the scale in a few days but only because I forgot this AM. It's quite unmotivating to get on and see the same number...for a year. Am going to try the sites to start tracking better than I have been. Just trying to find the easiest one so I can stick to it. Can't wait to see your face on the back cover. Good for you! Have a wonderful vacation...sounds wonderful. :)

  2. I'm so excited for you! I'm gonna fly down there so you can autograph my book!

I reached my 5 lb goal but only because I'm having major tummy troubles (more stress). I'm only gonna count it for real at the end of the month.

Not that you'll have any more to lose but I may have to do an August challenge too!

  5. Amber, You look like a real modeling pro in your photo shoot picture. Congratulations on your new weight loss success. I started FT today to see if I can move things a little faster, and will be working out more. Hopefully I'll meet my July goal. Have fun in the Ozarks, it's really pretty around there.

  6. Thanks guys! It was a fun day with great people!

Vickie - make sure to cut out sugar alcohols and even stevia sweetened products on the FT. You are allowed 1 packet in the morning, 1 at night. No Zevia's or that other good stuff either :( But so far so good with it for me!

Feel better Tiff - youll make it through this tough time!

  7. Amber - No need to promise that you won't make a new weight goal after achieving this one. A weight goal is just a number and goals help us to focus. Ultimately, you will find a comfortable, natural-feeling, and healthy weight - whatever the actual number. Sometimes, the body needs to stay at a given weight for a time before it is ready to continue downward. So, you never know...you might one day want to make a new loss goal.

I know for myself, my "goal range" is 25 pounds -between 78 and 103 pounds. The reason for the wide range is because I don't know what my body is comfortably capable of. I am not exactly a teenager anymore. But I also understand that once I'm in the "goal range zone" and I am "maintaining" by simply continuing the lifestyle, I might "spontaniously" start losing again when the body has adjusted and is ready to continue downward. There's no rush.

  8. Thanks Amber for continuing to blog even though you are at your goal. I look forward to ea. blog you write.
Would you write one on what your meal plans are now that your doing the FT.
I have cut out all grains and eating eggs, cheese, meat and spinach - lots and lots of spinach and green veggies. I have 1-2# to go and its so slow. If I would cut out the beer and wine, things might go faster. I live in WI so drinks are served often. Just sitting on the patio at night requires a drink in hand.
I can't wait to see you on the book cover - how exciting!!

  11. Hi Amber!

I've been sort of a lurker. I checked out your blog when I first learned about BFC. A couple of months later, I got the nerve to do it. Now, I've been on the Fast Track for about 2 weeks. You've been an inspiration to do this.

I don't own a scale and I'm not even sure how much I've lost, but it has been a few sizes for sure. Maybe 30lbs. I'm tall and always been an apple-ish shape. I have a very defined waist now and still have my cleavage...yay!

But...I wanted to share my experience from this morning. Since most of the weight has come from my midsection, I decided I wanted to go back to the gym this week and start weight training again. It would be nice for my arms and legs to catch up.

I've become quite adept at avoiding the countless mirrors at the gym to just focus on what I'm doing. Afterall, I don't want to ge discouraged.

Today, as I sat down at an arms machine, I had a glimpse in the mirror and did a double take. I did not even recognize my own body. Narrow waist and hips???!!! I seriously was in shock because even at my lowest weight in my life, my body *never* looked like this.

So, I wanted to thank you for being an inspiration and creating this support network. I want everyone who has doubts to know that it's not hard. Your body feels so good eating this way and you can do it for life. It may be crazy not to have a goal, but I feel that my body will stabilize at exactly where it's supposed to be because I'm eating all the right things. The excess fat will continue to disappear.

Have faith everyone. This is truly amazing.

Can't wait to see you on the book...you look stunning.

  14. Hi, my name is Michelle and today is day one for me. I am using MyFitnessPal to track my food. What I do not understand is how to track my carbs as a meal and not individual ingredients. Below is what I ate for breakfast. MyfitnessPal says my total carbs for this meal is 13carb and 1 sugar. So as of breakfast have I only consumed 1 carb and 1 sugar?
