Shopping Lists

Over on twitter this week, Kristen who also blogs, asked me a question that I decided to turn into a quick post! I have a Trader Joe's just down the road, so I go there a lot. I find it so reasonably priced too! There is a Whole Foods to not far off, but it is so pricey, I don't like to go too often. I go to Costco probably once a month, it also has lots of Non-BFC for my kids lunch boxes.

I listed here the items I regularly get for the BFC at these great stores. In the comments please let us all know what you would add to the list!

Trader Joes:
TJs Dark Chocolate Lovers Bar
Simply Lite Chocolate (Maltitol sweetened)
Unsweetened Almond Milk Vanilla
Sprouted Flaxseed Bread (3/1 for two slices!)
Whole Wheat Pita
Trader Giottos Three Cheese Pasta Pomodoro Sauce
Cream
Coffee
Cottage Cheese
Sunflower seeds (shelled)
Nuts
Uncles Sams cereal
TJs Mini Shredded Wheat cereal
Think Thin Bites
Dark Chocolate Altoids

Whole Foods:
So Delicious Coconut Milk
Unsweetened Almond Milk - they have all the flavors regular, vanilla & chocolate
Tempt Unsweetened Hemp Milk
So Delicious Coconut Unsweetened Kefir Original Flavor (Drinking yogurt)
Amazing Grass Green Superfood Chocolate
Jay Robb Whey Protein
Barleans Flaxseed oils (essential Women's Chocolate Raspberry if you can find it)
Chia Seeds
Green & Black's 85% Dark Chocolate & other dark chocolates
Stevia Sodas: Zevia, Steaz 0 Calorie, Blue Sky Free,
Think Thin Bites
Clemmy's
Waters: Metro Mint,  Hint Waters
Stevia Sweeteners
Sweet Riot
Chocolate Teas
Ezekiel Breads, muffins and cereals
Wasa Crackers

Costco: Jorge loves Costco for BFC Foods too

SoBe Lifewater 0 Calorie (new at Costco, Yippie!)
La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious tortillas
Baby Bel cheese
String cheese
Flat Out Bread (I've never found it at my Costco, but rumor is its there!)
Benefiber (I finally broke down & bought the GIANT container)
Fiber Con type pills
Rotesseri Chicken
Spinach leaves & other green veggies
Pruvia - Stevia Sweetener
Vitamin Water Zero
Thin Buns (hamburger buns)

Target:
SoBe Lifewater 0 Calorie
Vitamin Water Zero
Unsweetened Almond Milk
Dark Chocolates (they usually have several varieties)

Vitamin Shoppe:
Jay Robb Whey Protein
Ultimate 12/12 Probiotic
Spry Gum and mints

Amazon pretty much has every product from Jorge Cruise's Belly Fat Cure book! Surprisingly they sometimes have a better price then local stores and have reasonable shipping (or even free!). I will be ordering my Jay Robb & probiotics through here from now on, instead of getting them at Vitamin Shoppe. I went through the entire book added each item to an Amazon aStore here so they are easy for you to find.

CarbSmart is also a great resource. They have a whole section of BFC foods that I personally went through and made sure are either in the book or are artificial sweetener free and have great S/C Values. They have a few really hard to find items and currently I am loving these super high fiber crispbreads they carry. CarbSmart's Belly Fat Cure selection can be found here.

  2. Awesome and amazingly helpful post. Quick question - I've been having problems finding pitas with the best s/c counts. Do the ones at TJ's qualify? I'm addicted to little pizzas now!

  3. What do you do with the Amazing Grass Green Superfood? Do you take this daily? This is the first time I have heard of this stuff.

  4. Amy- I personally LOVE the Amazing Grass Green Superfood Chocolate! I have a review and (yes!) a giveaway coming up on them. But it is not for everyone. See how you like the Bug Juice (http://www.meandjorge.com/2009/11/dont-mind-me-im-just-feeding-my-bugs.html)before you spend the big bucks on this though. Its like the Bug juice, but better and Chocolate. Yum!

  5. Oops, I forgot the whole question: Amazing Grass is a powder that you mix for a shake. I mix with the almond milk or coconut milk. It has 6 servings of green veggies tons of good stuff for you.

  9. at TJs, the whole wheat pita bread has higher carb/sugar counts than the regular pita bread. the same is true for the whole wheat english muffins. the regular (white!) english muffins have a lower carb/sugar count. why?

  10. also ... at TJs the broccoli florets i'm used to buying (in a bag) have carb/sugar counts of 4/2, while carolieking.com lists broccoli as 2/0. can anyone tell me why?

  12. I personally have only just bought the flatout bread, but I know lots of others use it. I found it at Safeway, in front of the deli case. Here is a photo of what they look like http://img407.yfrog.com/i/vm3j.jpg/

  14. I found Sara Lees pita bread at Ralphs, a chain we have in So. Calif. Why is there such a difference between the Carbs in the book vs. the carb counter I found on line and even on the food package itself? HELP

  18. I love your blog. I found it by accident and already started implementing a few things and cooked one of the recipes. My problem is that i live in St George Utah and we do not have a trader joes or a whole foods and most of the health stores carry very little specialty items. the main grocers we have here are albertsons, walmart, smiths and harmons (expensive at harmons). Any suggestions. Today I went to all 5 of those stores looking for "Foster Farms grilled chicken strips" Not one store carried them. Its very frustrating. I ended up making my own which I am sure is healthier anyway but time consuming. 3 nights a week I have no time for that kind of cooking. Any suggestions? (you look amazing by the way)
