This was my first Zevia Soda so I can't yet compare it to the other flavors yet. I popped the top on this chilled can of Natural Black Cherry while listening to Dan Fogelberg's "Somewhere Along the Road" while driving back from a great night visiting my daughter at college. I drank it straight from the can and it did not disappoint.
Since I'm new to the stevia plant, I was apprehensive about the aftertaste I experienced from the packets I've been using. But happily, there was NO aftertaste. This soda was crisp and perfectly sweetened with a light cherry flavor with just a hint of clove and cinnamon. The splash of citric acid made it taste like what you wished the zero calorie sparkling waters would taste. It was not as sweet as the usual diet pop fare, which was a welcomed change. The Black Cherry soda had a great tingly mouth feel from the can. I poured the second half over ice to see how it held up. It was a nice surprise to see no artifical coloring! The flavor was still as crisp and clean. I could definitley taste the triple filtered water that Zevia uses for their sodas.
The only bad thing I can say is that until Zevia starts showing up on megamart shelves, be prepared to shell out some money for this treat. I paid $1.17 for this can, but found it for $.60 later on that afternoon in a different Health Food store. Shop around! This can got 5 out of 5 stars from me. I look forward to tasting the rest of their flavors.
Zevia can be found at Whole Foods market, health food stores and Amazon.com. Zevia has an S/C value of 0/1.
