  1. I used to be addicted to soda years ago. I realized long ago this was not healthy so I gave up drinking them full time. However I still craved, liked drinking the occasional soda. Since beginning the BFC I have craved them a little more and went about finding a store near me that sells Zevia. While I am not a fan of diet soda, I do like Zevia and it satisfy's my craving for that fizzy drink.
So far I have had the Black Cherry and Cola flavors, I do look forward to trying others!
    Thanks Amber!

  2. I have totally replaced diet soda with Zevia! I am almost totally off sugar now! We have a limited selection of flavors at my Whole Foods, so I really want to try the other flavors!

  3. Zevia's delicious! I must admit, I still have an occasional diet soda, but at this point they are few and far between. I've subscribed to you in Google Reader!

  4. I gave up diet soda a couple of years ago. I used to start drinking it at lunch, and then continued the rest of the day - maybe 32 to 40 oz every day. I only drink water or iced tea now, and haven't really had a problem shaking the habit.

    Water rocks!

Amber, I've posted this on my blog with a link back.

I wish I could find Stevia to try! I am a previous Mountain Dew addict (the worst breakup I have ever had :) I am using SOBE, but still miss the fizz. I never tried diet soda since I am not allowed to use artificial sugars due to migraines. I would love to win, and get a chance to try this product!!

  7. I would love to try Zevia! I heard about it through Jorge Cruise's videos and I emailed the company to get it, but it's only available in the US. I would love it in Canada! Giving up sugar is very hard so anything would help!

  8. I really didn't think I had the sugar problem until I got off the amount of sugar I was on. I started picking up the label of everything I ate and was absolutely shocked at the amount of sugar in them. Some things, although lowfat, still had over 45 grams of sugar. I think I know why I haven't lost weight. Been on Jorge's BFC for ONE day and have already lost 4 pounds. It is AMAZING! Thank You Jorge, you REALLY saved my life.

  9. I have only tried the cola flavor of Zevia and enjoyed it very much. I'm very interested in sampling all of the flavors, though I don't love giving up a carb serving for a beverage. However, I did kick a pretty bad Diet Pepsi addiction cold turkey when I started this diet, so Zevia is definitely a nice treat if I ever get that craving! Love the product, just hope the price comes down soon! Thanks Amber and good luck to everyone!!!!

  11. Hey, there! I discovered Zevia at my local Whole Foods store before BFC. We had given up "regular" soda, but we like to have it with certain things at home, so I was in that aisle checking it out. It was on sale at that time, and I was standing there considering whether to purchase it or not, not having tried it. One of the guys that work there was walking by. I asked him if he knew anything about Zevia. He said, "Oh, yeah! It's great." He drinks it all of the time, he said, and told me his favorite flavors. Of course, I bought some right then and there! I bought as much as I could over the course of the sale because at that time we were in full soda mode.

My daughter and I really, really like it! It's great stuff. I love the fizz that you can't get from tea or water. I even returned the favor myself a few months later when I was at a different local Whole Foods and a lady was standing there while I was loading my cart with Zevia. I told her if she was considering it, that it is great stuff and she'd love it. I told her my favorite flavor (I love the orange!). I wheeled on not wanting to intrude on her shopping decisions, but I did see her put it in her cart!

I do recommend the product, obviously, and is the only soda I drink!

  12. Ooops! I forgot to tell you how quitting sugar and artificial anything is going for me so far! So far, 40 lbs down and I am feeling great!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Zevia is pretty good. My wife thinks is makes me burp more than other soda.

All I've tried is the root beer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have fallen in love with Zevia!

On April 1st, 2009, I cut out sugar completely. After two weeks of sugar-free products with artificial sweeteners, I felt WORSE! So, I switched to stevia products. I've always been a soda fan, but felt that the aspartame in diet sodas was the worst of all!

Then, of course, I stumbled upon ZEVIA! ...I will NEVER go back!

In one month, it will be a year of my lifestyle change. I work out everyday, watch calories, no sugar, and good carbs. If all works as planned, I will have lost exactly 200lbs in one year... I'm VERY close.

    Thank you Zevia!!

  15. I have never tried Zevia because I can't find it in my area. I gave up Diet Coke last October and like everyone else I miss having a fizzy fix every once in a while. I would love to try it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have only tried root beer so far,,, My husband was a A&W root beer drinker, now he has switched too. We both love the taste.
Since being off sugar my glucose readings are in the 80-90s and lost 21 pounds, GREAT for my son too. He always had high readings with diet sodas in his lunch everyday.

  18. I just found Zevia last weekend and tried 1 of each. I like the rootbeer and the orange the best. The cola is ok but it reminds me of RC - not my favorite. I just found your blog today from the FB support group and subscribed right away! I started my journey with Jorge yesterday...woo hoo!

  19. I haven't been able to find Zevia yet - but I can't wait to try it. I am hoping it will replace my occasional cravings for a Diet Coke.

  20. Hello... quiting drinking sugary sodas have been super hard but I have found a replacement in the Zevia products. I love the black cherry and over ice is super great. Cant wait till summer when everyone else is drinking high in sugar sodas and I am introducing them to these and seeing how quick they switch. Thanks so much

  21. It has been 15 days since my last drink of soda. The craving is nearly gone. I miss the carbonation of the soda. I've been wanting to try Zevia but I'm afraid to commit to the expense without know if I will like it.

I am surprised how much more "awake" I am without the sugar in my diet. I used to crash on the way home from work and that doesn't happen anymore. I'm liking the new, drastically reduced sugar, lifestyle.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love Zevia and it has been a critical part of my quitting my old diet soda ways. I actually had an incident where I received a punctured can and contacted their customer service and they went above and beyond to make things right. Not only is it a great product, but it is supported by excellent customer service! I love the cola, but was able to get in on a preview buy of "Dr. Zevia" and that is now my favorite. Can't wait until that hits the stores.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i haven't been drinking soda for awhile. I don't even consider zevia soda really because it's so healthy! i really like it and it's our only drink treat other than herbal tea and kombucha.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i tweeted on my other account too. @siennastaffie.

hope that's ok. it's a totally different audience.

  25. I haven't had a sugar/artificial soda in years. I love Zevia and have turned several people on to it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Before I started the BFC, we bought a couple of cans of the Cola-flavored Zevia for my mother-in-law who can't have a lot of sugar. I thought it tasted good. I still have an aspartame sweetened soda (gasp) when I am desperate as we still have some in the garage and they stock it at work. For a fizzy drink substitute, I pour 1/2 of a Sobe Lifewater into a glass with 1/2 of a bottle of Talking Rain Plain fizzy water. Not bad!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I haven't had a diet pepsi since starting the BFC diet on 1/14/10. I am pleasantly surprised that I do not miss it. I have tried the cola flavored Zevia. It was not exactly like my diet pepsi, but it did the trick. Sugar is not a problem for me these days. Yeah!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Used to love my real Coke, then went the Diet Coke route, finally settling on diet root beer. Since starting the BFC, I've been really trying to up my water intake--would love to try the Zevia--my grocery store and health food store have it, but it's pretty pricey. Oh, and down 10 pounds in 6 weeks!

  29. I've really wanted to try Zevia but would have to order it online so haven't yet. I was a Diet Coke addict and drank a couple a day but have cut it way back to just a few a week. But I'm noticing how yucky I feel when I drink it, from the chemicals in it. But I really love the fizz so it would be great to have a soda I could drink that wasn't so chemical laden.

  30. I purchased BFC early February and was following it and then did the 7 Day over 40 plan. There were a few days between that and getting the menus for the women over 40 six week plan. So I had some air popped pop corn and sprinkled it with a combination spice I have been using for years. Boy was it sweet (I had never tasted it as sweet before). I looked on the label and sure enough the second ingredient was sugar. Threw that bottle right out. Anyway, made me realize that I must be losing my sweet tooth and that I need to check my spice combination's to see if there is sugar in them.
    Thank you.

  32. Zevia is my one of my favorite products since starting the BFC program. My #1 is Twist and then cola. Went to the store whole food market the other day and they were sold out. Have since found it at my local grocery store. They will be big as soon as more people try it and realize zero calories and zero sugar. Would love to win more flavors to try.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I haven't tried any of the Zevia drinks, as we don't have them here in Canada(yet anyways)! I have never been a big pop drinker, but would have the occasional diet coke with lime, or diet sprite. Since cutting out sugar, I don't have any cravings for sweets! Hopefully I win, then I can try the Zevia drinks and comment for myself!!

  34. I honestly didn't think I consumed a lot of sugar in my every day foods until I started BFC. The first 2 weeks I had a headache and it wasn't due to caffeine withdrawal....sugar. I have always been a label reader but didn't factor the sugar numbers in...now I do and even read the ingredients to make sure it is "appropriately" sweetened. I absolutely LOVE Zevia and have tried all the flavors except the newest one Dr. Zevia. I have blogged about them on my own blog (asthepizzaburns...40, bellyfat&bfc)and have even joined their Facebook page. I use stevia only now in foods and drinks I make.

  38. I forgot to share my diet soda story! I was a Code Zero lover, and didnt realized the BFC would require me to give it up. I did only for a week, then two. Then I didn't care about it any more. I have not had a single sip or regular or diet soda in 19wks now. The half case of Coke Zero is still sitting in my garage!

My habit was Diet Dr. Pepper. LOVED the stuff. I was drinking up to 10+ a day. I actually gave it up for Lent which ironically coincided with starting the BFC plan. The addictive power of aspertame is unreal. Like Jorge said it acts like an opiate. I have been drinking unsweetened green iced tea but I have really had times when I could use a soda. I've never tried Zevia but if Jorge endorses it I would love to try it. Sounds like "Dr Zevia" would be right up my alley. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, I started this all on Sunday. It has been amazing. My local food store only sells 3 varieties of Zevia, so I bought one of each! I like the Black Cherry, but would love to find the Dr. Zevia.

My addiction was Dr. Pepper. Then I read BFC and felt really crappy about myself..me a young lady, having fat in the most unhealthy part of her body. So I thought, " I can do this, plus, Jorge says 'Instant health is my divine right, so I claim it now.'" Well that inspiried me..I said it and am doing it.

Cutting out these artificial soda sugars has not phased me at all. i am doing great and loving every minute of it.

Zevia, thank you for creating something that we can enjoy without putting a damper on our future.

  41. i have always been a soda drinker and being diabetic i had to switch to diet soda which isnt bad but now being on the FBC plan, i am so grateful that i discovered Zevia. Its gotten to the point that i take it with me to work, and i work at a bar, and now my boss is drinking it and bringing me some in case i forget my own. Before being on the strict plan, i was even mixing my drinks using the stevia. I felt it made my cocktail taste even better. I LOVE IT!!!!

  42. I was hooked on Diet Dr. Pepper for many years and never thought I could give it up, but I did it!

I was thrilled to hear about Zevia and was eager to try it. It wasn't easy to find in my area but I finally was able to find it at Shaw's. I've only tried the Cherry flavored one so far and that one was really good.

  43. I have been doing the BFC for 5 & 1/2 wks now I am dwn 13lbs & 3 1/2" on my waist. I used to drink diet sodas & eat lots of junk food. I feel great with no sugar. I haven't had a soda since I started the BFC. I have not tryed Zevia & would love to try it. My store near me that carries it is always out.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have been doing the BFC for about 2 months and I'm loving it. I used to get tons of headaches and migraines. Since cutting out sugar, they have almost been completely eliminated. Hallelujah! I would love to try these sodas and see if they leave me headache free.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Prior to the BFC I was drinking 2 cans of Sunkist a day. It was tough for the first week, but gradually I stopped craving the sugar (like I was told I would!!)I have since replaced Sunkist with the Orange Zevia and LOVE it! Being mostly sugar free has really helped on all levels! I love this plan even if I'm not losing weight!

    ReplyDelete
  46. At one point I used to go through a 2 liter bottle of soda in two days. I figured that I should drink regular pop instead of diet because of all of the artificial sweeteners, but it backfired:(
However 3 months ago I finally kicked the pop habit!
But I still miss the fizziness!I would love to win and have the opportunity to enjoy soda guilt free again.

  49. I tried to go sugar free a few yrs. back and was miserable, I didn't like the taste of artif. sweetners and knew they were not healthly. So I went back to sugar at a Dr. sugguestion. But now on the BFC, it has been a better transition with the use of stevia products. My husband loves the black cherry Zevia and I enjoy the ginger rootbeer. Didn't enjoy the orange, but I've only had one, tasted a little off to me. Overall a really wonderful product.

  52. I love all the Zevia flavors. Instead of drinking orange juice I drink orange Zevia. I open the top and put it in the refrigerator over night to let some of the carbonation out of it. It's the perfect thing to sip after my bowl of oatmeal or multi- grain english muffin. Mini

  53. Thanks for Zevia.. and I'm saying that before even trying it. I am a Diet Coke junkie.. and I've given it up since I started this new meal plan and way of eating. I love drinking water and I drink a lot. But with my meals I like something flavor and some fizz. So I'm hoping Zevia is going to be my saving grace. I looked on line and saw my local Whole Foods should carry. I'll be checking that out. So far I'm liking the low sugar low carb approach. It makes sense. And it's working. Such a community also. I'm like that. Thanks Zevia.

  54. quitting artificial sweeteners and sugar alone is tough, but I know its working in 2 mons I have already lost almost 10lbs, I'm gettng married this Sept and trying to loose the pounds also started at 196. We don't drink very much pop as a family. We have tried the Cola, Black Cherry and Root Beer.
My 13 year old rates them: Black Cherry/1st, Cola/2nd, Root Beer 3rd. I liked Root Beer the best so far. At my local grocery store the 6-packs sell for $5.49. That's a bit spendy...

  59. Just started FBC lifestyle today. I had lost with South Beach Diet in the past and started eating that way again this week. After discovering FBC, I am excited to make the change. The only hurdle I can see at this point is getting rid of the artificial sugars. I live in a small town that is in desperate need of a whole foods type store! I can't wait to try the Zevia soft drinks! Diet Dr. Pepper and sugar free popsicles were my "treats" on previous diets and now they are a no-no. Zevia sounds delicious! My fingers are crossed!

I've been on BFC for 6 weeks now, cutting sugar almost completely out of my diet. The only thing I was missing was an occasional soda. With all those aweful sugar substitutes, I was really looking for something to fill the void. I found it! I love the cola flavored and the black cherry. Don't have much variety at my local health food store, so I would LOVE to try other flavors! 15lbs down and counting!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow, I haven't drank soda for a few years now! Honestly, haven't missed it that much, I've found healthier alternatives (like Zevia, love it!) and haven't looked back! 68. I am not one who drinks a lot of anything. I have coffee in the morning, and then maybe one other drink throughout the day. I have really started trying to drink water more. I generally am getting in about 30 ounces now. That is about all I can do. I have had a hard time with water being my only real choice of drink. I like tea, but not enough to drink it often. I can't find the zevia anywhere in the town that I live, and the two times I have been to the neighboring town's grocery store that has it, they have been out!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have tried the Ginger Root Beer & Lemon Twist. I think they are great! However, my only source in town charges $6.12 a six pack so I have to really, really, & I do mean really want one before i'll pop a top. I consider them a special treat only.

  70. OK SOOO, never in a million years would I have thought we could've done this... but with the BFC, we have now in 9 weeks and i've lost 37 pounds, my partner 34 and we are doing great! Honestly, I haven't felt this good in 10 plus years! The Zevia is the perfect treat for us.. we have to drive quite a way to get it... but, it is VERY much worth it...gone is my diet coke and I DON't even miss it! I really am blessed and completely excited this change! Sugar Free, Zevia'fied! and BFC blissed out! LIFE IS GOOD !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Amber, your blog is AWESOME! I would so love to win this prize for sure. I NEVER figured in a million years that I could give up sugar. I haven't had sugar since 1-7-10 and it's amazing! I was diagnosed with IC in November which is (inflammation of the bladder) There is NO known cure. Since the BFC, limiting the sugar and grains, I have had NO problems with my IC and NO flareups! Who knows, all the sugar and carbs could have been what caused my miscarriage in October. Ill never know for sure but I know I am healthier NOW! Losing the sugar has been, you can say, life saving for me. (literally keeping me from becoming disabled from the IC) I LOVE Zevia, it really helps to take away the withdrawals from giving up my most favorite soda. Dr. Pepper. I wish more stores would carry it here because it is so hard to get to the 2 health food stores as they are way across town and I hardly ever get out. :-( Thanks for all you do!

  72. I've never really drunk full sugar soda (grew up on diet since that's all we had in the house), but I'm now trying to get away from a lot of artificial sweeteners (or at least those non-natural ones). That's still proving a challenge at the moment, unfortunately.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  74. I started the BFC almost two weeks ago and when I started I decided I would have one Diet Coke a day (instead of the 4-6 or more I used to drink a day). At some point in the very near future I will completely stop drinking DC. There have been several days when I've craved additional DCs but have not given in to the craving ~ yeah! Like others have pointed out, Zevia is more expensive than DC (especially when I buy DC at Costco) so Zevia is a special treat.

Thanks for your blog ~ I've learned so much about the BFC from you!

  77. I stopped sugar 7 weeks ago, thanks to Jorge Cruise and the belly fat diet. I am a 50 year old female and didn't have much weight to lose as I am 5'4" and weighed 123lbs, but am always looking for a healthier life style to follow (I wanted to lose about 5lbs of belly fat). I have had thyroid issues for a few years, having had my thyroid ablated due to hyperthyroidism. Well, along with the thyroid difficulties I also developed terrible heart palpitations which actually occurred almost 24/7, so my doctor and I have experimented with my medications, have been to the cardiologist yet have found nothing that helped totally, even resorted to taking beta blockers to help relieve them somewhat. Well after about a month of no sugar, it occurred to me that my heart palpitations had completely gone! (I have even stopped taking the beta blockers). Well I was completely aghast and just to be sure, I have experimented a couple of times eating sugar (only selecting one item, such as a slice of cake), low and behold the next day, the heart palpitations came back! Not only that, it takes my body a full 48 hours for them to stop. Wow has this been an eye opener, even my doctor said he would never have guessed that the heart palpitations were caused by sugar. What a blessing to me - thanks Jorge, if it wasn't for your book I would still be battling heart palpitations!

  78. I was not a big soda drinker, although I was BIG, if you know what I mean. I was however an orange juice addict. I would by the super huge two gallon jug of Tropicana at BJ's drink it all in about two days, and rush over there to get another one. The sugar rush was virtually constant, and deceptively made me feel good. Then I read about BFC in the Costco Connection July 2009 magazine. I thought "this is simple" and "what's the worst that could happen?" Now it's March 2010 and I am down almost 50 lbs weighing in at 223. I have had to replace my belt 3 times so far, and I am continuing on down to about 175 +/-, the weight I was when I started college in 1972. I have never tried Zevia, but I would like to. I drink lots of sparkling water, and Sobe Lifewater because it's available at Costco where I shop most frequently. I'll get some from Amazon now that I qualify for free shipping.

  79. Robert - thanks for sharing your story and success on the BFC! That is an inspiration to me!

  80. I've been trying to find a soda sweetened with stevia and Zevia is it! I've gone without soda for a couple of years now and don't even miss most of them. However, it would be nice to enjoy a root beer or black cherry soda without artificial sweeteners, so I'm looking forward to trying Zevia, now that I know about it!

  81. I used to drink at least three 32oz sodas a day! I hated the yucky after taste of diet sodas, so I only drank regular ones. I had no idea the damage I was doing to myself until I read the Belly Fat Cure book. Now I check ALL the labels before I eat/drink anything. It's shocking to see how much sugar is in everything! Even skim milk! I'm so excited to hear about Zevia sodas! Can't wait to try the black cherry!

  82. I was a HUGE soda drinker, but after gaining 45 pounds and getting bad news from my dentist I have sworn the stuff off. That was 2 months ago and already I have lost 15 pounds. Although I still do miss the fizziness of the sodas I am not too fond of diet sodas. I would love to try Zevia, but the closest seller to me is 25 miles away.

  83. I have a condition called Epstein Barr. As a result, I have chronic fatigue and swollen and sore lymph nodes. My doctor says that there is no cure and was told that I would have to live with the side effects.
After reading the Belly Fat Cure diet, I cut sugar from my diet. To my surprise, weight loss isn't the only benefit for me. My Epstein Barr symptoms have decreased drastically.
I have found that most of the foods that is recommended in the Belly Fat Cure diet are really good. I'm sure that Zevia is no exception. As a lover of cola, I would love to try the Zevia.

  84. I just found out the horrifying truth about fructose. It is now officially a chronic toxin. The scientists now say that the liver treats high fructose sweetener or crystaline fructose exactly like it treats ethanol or hard liquor. Fructose, which is THE main sweetener for all non diet sodas, causes the manufacture of heavy dense LDL cholesterol, the dangerous type of bad cholesterol and causes heavy dense fat to fill up the liver and pack itself around all the internal organs. Fructose also makes the metabolism breakdown so you get fat faster. All the health problems that alcoholics fall victim to are now known to afflict fructose consumers. And fructose is in all sorts of things like bread, and most processed foods. If you want to know more about fructose go to youtube and search "sugar: the bitter truth" and watch the lecture.
You won't get me to even use anything with splenda or nutrisweet or its new name Aminosweet. All those are excitotoxins and neurotoxins and should never be put into the body.
I look forward to trying Zevia since I have not seen it in any store yet.

  85. I use to start my day with an ice cold coca cola. Then drink several during the day, reaching for Coke before I ever would water. I stopped drinking them more out of trying to save money than for any health benefit. But now that I don't rely on them anymore, I no longer even crave the sugar fix they provided. But every now and then, I'd still like to have something fizzy. Zevia sounds like it would fit. I've subscribed to your RSS feed and also posted in my blog

  86. I would love this! I'm a complete Diet Coke junkie and am working on getting off it. It's very hard though. Zevia sounds like it would be an amazing replacement!

  87. Finding Jorge Cruise's BFC was the best thing that ever happened to not only my health but my family's as well. After trying other methods, I couldn't stay consistant because after awhile they seemed impossible to maintain. With BFC it's a lifestyle that is not only doable but practically effortless! Now that I am educated about sweetners and letting go of sugar & learning how to have a healthy relationship with food I can finally say that I feel beautiful from the inside out and my waistline is beginning to reflect it too! Thank you so much Jorge & Happy Birthday, your life is a legacy of what you leave behind & look how many people you've helped. May your life be blessed.
    Respectfully,

  90. We have been drinking Zevia for about 3 years and LOVE the Ginger Root Beer. The taste is very good and the stevia gives it just the right amount of sweetness. We have slowly been giving up all sugar, so Zevia fits nicely into the plan. I did have a headache for a couple of days after giving up processed sugar.

  91. I love, love, love this eating plan. I was definitely a sugar-holic....every night I drank, and drank, and drank...anything with sugar in it...juices especially, sometimes with ice cream in them! I have been on the BFC for about 4 or 5 weeks now and have never strayed. I love my energy, my disappearing belly fat, and my bright out look on life. I love the Zevia..what a find...especially the root beer and cola. I am a forever fan!

  92. I used to be addicted to diet soda. I gave it up cold turkey months ago to get rid of the caffeine/sweeteners. I didn't like sugary regular soda, so when I learned of Zevia, I was hooked!

I'm slowly giving up sugar, and it's tough (who knew I was sabotaging myself by drinking lots of skim milk?) but I'm loving the results!

  93. I would love to try Zevia. I live in Canada, and we cant get it here. I am enjoying the program..at first I had headaches but after they stopped things are fine. The scales are NOT moving very much, but I am noticing the inches moving and the bloating. Hopefully the pounds will start moving soon. I am on the menus for women over 40. I dont mind eating like this because it is healthy. I'm not a big soda drinker, but it was the cookies and sweets that did it for me. Now, I dont hanker them very much. I couldnt believe how much sugar was hidden in things. catherinelhunter@hotmail.com
