Product Review: Nature's Hollow Preserves

One of the products I've most wanted to try on the Belly Fat Cure is the elusive Nature's Hollow Preserves. I just woke up one day craving toast and jam. I had the right bread for toast, but was lacking the jam! For four months I had scoured the local Whole Foods, which supposedly carried it, but to no avail.

I was so thrilled when CarbSmart sent me a few jars to try that I immediately popped my bread in the toaster! I am undecided on which I like better, but I tried the Strawberry and Blueberry and they were both great! The next morning I added a spoonful to my oatmeal, and loved that too. I could see using them as a glaze for meat or on top of cheese to serve at a party. The Belly Fat Cure book also has several ideas on how to use the preserves on "BellyGood" foods.

Nature's Hollow products have Jorge Cruise's Belly Fat Cure Seal of Approval, which only a few products have been given. They are all natural and have only a few ingredients. They tasted very fresh, and satisfied the need to get a little fruit in on this plan. To my knowledge they are the only jams available in the U.S. that are sugar free and made with natural ingredients. They are sweetened with Xylitol, a Sugar Alcohol which is sugar free. They have 0 grams Sugar and 7 grams Carbohydrates for an S/C Value of 0/1 for 1 TBSP.

They are available at CarbSmart via Amazon for $5.99 each.

I give Nature's Hollow Preserves 5 stars, I thought they were a wonderful treat. The only problem is their availability, it would be nice to pick them up locally. They are one of the items in this week's giveaway, so don't forget to enter if you haven't yet!

Note: Some of the preserves were shipped with an incorrect label that states 5 grams Sugar. That is incorrect, they are 0 grams Sugar. Very confusing, but I called the manufacturer myself to make sure. I use Trader Joes Sprouted Flaxseed bread which is 2g Sugar/14g Carbs for two slices.

Disclosure: I was provided this product free of charge in order to review it. It in no way effected my opinion of the product.

  1. I absolutely LOVE this product! Strawberry is my fave, but I totally agree: it'd be nice to be able to buy them locally. I contacted the company and they're sold at Whole Foods in California, Arizona, Colorado and a few other states out west, but nothing east of Colorado. I posted a twitter to @WholeFoods yesterday asking them to bring them to those of us east of the Rockies. Fingers crossed! :)

  2. Wait! You are in California! That means that your Whole Foods should carry them. Lucky you! :)

  3. I know, but they dont :( My Whole Foods is even this huge superstore, but no Nature's Hollow. CarbSmart does have a free shipping offer this week for big order for the US, which helps: http://bit.ly/bOUydF

  5. Nope, and I dont handle Maltitol well. Xylitol seems much better, as Ive had it in a few other products as well (like gum). Great question!

  7. Hey we have a Sprouts about 20 miles from me, I guess I will have to check and see if they carry it. I would love to find some of the products near me! Thanks for the information.

  9. What is the net carb vs carbs on the label? Which do I count?

  10. We count total carbs on BFC, not net. Net is an Atkins term for carbs - fiber - sugar alcohols.

  11. Amber, when you finally get down to the weight you want, do you think you will begin to incorporate more fruits back into your diet? I am thinking, that when I get to my goal, I might try to up my fruit intake little by little, and not be as nearly strict as I am now. I would like to experiment to see how that goes; only fruit, I'm not talking about junk food. I'm not there yet myself, but I'm getting there. Anyways, if you do decide to experiment, please blog about it. Good luck on the last round, you're almost there!!

  13. Whole Foods in Texas does not carry it. I found it at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage. They've just opened quite a few locations and thay have all flavors. They also have Zevia cheaper than Whole foods as well as the 12/12 Probiotics onsale.

  15. I am 20-25 pounds over weight. My weight is not in my tummy. It is in my butt and legs and a little in the tummy. They call this the belly fat cure. I know the butt and legs are harder to lose. Do you think this would be helpful for me.
